2/17 - I launched a new site layout today.  New broct site.

2/12 - Worked on tunnel system today.  Map is really starting to come together.  I should be getting ready for a play test soon, and then I'll be able to add more detail.  Cliff detal will be the next big step, and then the spawn areas.

2/10 - I have been working on my part of the map at www.dsleeper.net.  I have also re-done the textures for my church.  You can see a screen shot below the map to the right.

2/3 - I sketched out the Red Spawn Area.  Just need to do detail work.  Blue Spawn still needs some lovin, and I'm at a lost with direction there.  The new sketch should provide enough information as what has been updated.  The detail will be low in blue and red spawn, and med - high at church area.  R_Speeds are looking good in church area.

I stoped working on my map today, and I have begun working on my section of the map at http://www.dsleeper.net.  I have been using a new cliff style, thanks to Archer, and I will deploy it in my section of the map.

Oh, yeah GO Patriots! - I guess I'll be drinking beers instead of mapping this afternoon.  heh

1/31 - I have been jerking off the past few days.  I needed to step away from my map.  I plan on redoing my church/ town area again. After playing a few FA maps, I felt my town sucked. I have added some prefabs, and it's given me some new inspiration.  R_speeds are down into 500-650 range on avg, and I'm still working on bringing that down.

1/26 - I moved the site to this new host...  It was lagging on the other host.

1/25 - I worked on my wad file today, and sharpened all the images up a bit after talking with Chainsaw.  I will post an updated wad section later this weekend.  I also finished my first sky which can be see above.  I will add that to the download section, and write my first tut on making skys.  I have my son this weekend, so have a great weekend.

1/24 - Started doing R&D for dsleeper.net's mapping project.  You can follow the progress here in the forums

1/23 - I saw a preview of The Count of Monte Cristo last night, and it was pretty good.  It was a bit on the long side, and I had to yell at some punk high school kids to shut the F up during the movie.  All and all I'd see it again.

On the map front, I have cleaned up all my overlapping brushes. Not that there were many. I'm still working on the beach.  I need to do something with the repeating wall texture; it's making me sick.

I added a few textures to my wad file, and I made a small image gallery.  I also experimented with a few texures.

1/22 - Got asked to join the mapping project over at dsleeper.net today.  I look forward to expanding my mapping skills. Thanks Dsleeper!

I started working on the cliffs today, and started breaking the floor into many triangles.  Anyways this is slow going.

I got to pre-view and play test Chainsaw's map sdtc_balcome6.  He has made a lot of sweet new changes, and I'm sure the next beta release will be hella bad.

1/21 - Made some updates to the site.  Worked on Blue Base.

1/20 - Made a lot of changes today.  The biggest change was lowering the average visible leafs 432 to 225.  Started working on the path to the beach.

1/19 - Downloaded a bunch of new wads, and after reading this thread by chainsaw I cleaned up my map by lowering  wpoly and raising fps.  Also discussed rendering issues I had with Chainsaw, and went back to the drawing board.  Started seeing some really nice changes.

1/18 - First public screen shots and Thread from FA Forums

Blue team invades Red's coast, and works their way inland to secure Red team's small but important airfield. There will be an item to destroy at the airfield. The blue team's item to destroy will be located on the coast.

Mission:
  • Complete this map ;)
  • Document steps of development to maybe aid other people in creating maps.  I've see a lot of tutorials, but none really lay out the thought process of creating a map.  Not that I have the first clue, but by asking questions in the forums I am ( I think ) making progress.  So let's see where this goes...
